Diagnostic care is related to services where your provider looks for something specific, often based on preventive tests or screenings. The follow-up mammogram is diagnostic and not covered as preventative care.

I FEEL FINE; THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH ME.

You may not feel any significant symptoms early on with many conditions, like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes. But these “silent” medical problems can lead to serious health consequences if not detected early. Routine screenings, including breast, prostate, and colon cancer, can improve the chances of seeing cancer early on when it’s most treatable.

I’M YOUNG; I DON’T NEED ANNUAL EXAMS YET.

Genetic predispositions, unhealthy lifestyle habits, and obesity can lead to serious health problems. By starting young with your annual physical exams, you can build a trusting relationship with your primary care physician, who can help you manage any potential health problems down the road.

I HAVE BEEN BUSY; I DON’T HAVE TIME TO SEE MY DOCTOR.

It could lead to spending even more time, and money, on advanced treatment down the road. It’s also usually easier to get an appointment as an established patient, and you don’t want to wait until you need a doctor to find a doctor
